Free crappy gamelet I made: Space Taxi Multiplayer in a browser

Did you love Space Taxi on your C64?  Then try this half-assed multiplayer version of it I did as a browser multi-player test using Unity.

taxi

I don’t think I’m going to work on it anymore, so here it is!

Click here to play (Unity web)

Split Fiction was a blast. Twice as big as you'd think, packed with clever two-player mechanics. Shame about the writing, though. Most cutscenes were a grating, artless slog of whiny dialogue and clumsy exposition... the skip button wasn't just a relief, it was self-defense

Akiko: I need a countdown timer that overlays our mahjong scores on the tv, I guess there's probably a webpage I could use for that and...

Me: But will it have sound effects and ten-chan?!! <a short while later>:

BTW: I wrote 0 lines of code for this dumb C# app, just designed it. (Using Cursor with Claude 4 Max - it also handled all the git stuff and packaging) https://github.com/SethRobinson/RTEventTimer

Talk about niche: I've open-sourced the Japanese Riichi mahjong scoring and season tracking Google Sheets stuff I wrote for C2 Kyoto's Mahjong nights, in the very unlikely event there's a mahjong parlor (or group of friends) out there that needs it! https://github.com/SethRobinson/mahjongtracker

So #veo3 is available in Japan now, so please watch yourself folks. Gotta use common sense to detect the deluge of lies coming. You can trust me though, so here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kmzIOxiP6Yg

What's the most expensive off-the-shelf video/computer game ever sold? (not counting special bundles/promos/stunts) As near as I can figure, Samurai Shodown V Special (aka Samurai Spirits Zero Special) on Neo-Geo AES, 2004 - $359.99 (~$610 today)

Tried Antstream's "Retro Classics", (why is the app called Pleasantville btw?) - the good news is they got streaming to work at what feels around 66ms latency. The bad news is that isn't good enough for twitch games like River Raid, it's noticeably "wrong" if you compare it directly to a good setup. For slower adventure games it's alright tho

Scenes from Osaka Expo 2025 last Tuesday. Lines everywhere. Word is they panicked over slow sales and priced season passes way too low ($160 USD). Now it’s a madhouse - there’s even a long wait to get into a freakin' Family Mart!

The app is a disaster - constant logins, the worst reservation system ever (didn’t win the USA Pavilion lottery? Enjoy roasting in the sun for 2 hours!). Still, there’s a lot of cool stuff to see. After 4 PM, the lines ease up.

Why? Traditional Google Translate often struggles with Japanese, especially in understanding subject-action relationships. I use a fragment-based method to maintain contextual awareness, preserve formatting, and can do stuff like include cultural annotations.
