Introducing Space Casino, a little browser based gamelet written to test stuff out

Play it in your (desktop) browser here (oops, I took the server down for now, so it will just say “please wait” forever and isn’t playable right now!)

Some background info/discussion on it here

ANNOUNCING YET ANOTHER TRANSLATION THING I MADE: UGTBrowser - a chrome extension that does inline translations (and optional creative tasks) on web pages using top LLMs. More an experiment, but hey, it works. Needs your own API key. Free & Open source. https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/ugtbrowser/ccpaaggcacbmdbjhclgggndopoekjfkc

Why? Traditional Google Translate often struggles with Japanese, especially in understanding subject-action relationships. I use a fragment-based method to maintain contextual awareness, preserve formatting, and can do stuff like include cultural annotations.

Announcing Universal Game Translator Live! It's a complete rewrite of UGT that's built to do real-time game translations. YouTube video of it in action: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PFrWheMeT5k It's very beta, but it's on GitHub now: https://github.com/SethRobinson/UGTLive

Early screenshot of a new "real-time game translator/thing to help study language" I'm working on! (Game I'm testing with is Konohana 2) If I can get it to a good place, I'll throw it on github, it's sort of a complete evolution of UGT rewritten in C# and Python

Tried out OpenAI's "Deep Research" by generating a chart of Nintendo launch pricing over the years. Seems about right, but unless I checked every #... hrmph.

We've been running weekly public Riichi Mahjong games in Kyoto for over a year now. Akiko is hellbent on spreading the gospel of jansou rules mahjong to everybody. A chombo is an unforced error penalty that makes you want to shrivel up and die. Here, we do this...

(pardon her singing in the bg. Music by Udio with my lyrics, such as they are)

who doesn't like to unwind with a little mahjong after a long day? A complaint though: No way to disable the music (?) and the only way to turn it down is to use a screw driver on the console itself!

Did some maintenance work on Dink Smallwood HD, built V2.08 for PC, web, iOS, and Android. (iOS and Android versions waiting on approval) Yeah, it's 27 years old and free, but as long as people are still making add-ons for it, I'll keep my versions running as long as possible

I should be able to limit my commenters and followers to "EV Level 2" or something because it has absolutely reached the point where we can't reliably detect bots. While a paywall can work, it's limited to THAT system, we need better, with more privacy
