{"id":2526,"date":"2019-09-05T08:32:32","date_gmt":"2019-09-04T23:32:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.codedojo.com\/?p=2526"},"modified":"2019-09-06T11:22:37","modified_gmt":"2019-09-06T02:22:37","slug":"door-game-source-code-release-rtreader","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.codedojo.com\/?p=2526","title":{"rendered":"Door game source code release &#8211; RTReader"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Many moons ago I made a door game scripting engine that read &#8220;ref files&#8221; (short for reference, I think) to control\u00a0 what the users see.\u00a0 Later, this reference file system was used as the base for LORD 2: New World.<\/p>\n<p>Someone asked me today for the source and as I don&#8217;t think there are any legal entanglements with releasing this, here ya go.\u00a0 (<em>About the LORD\/TEOS\/LORD2 source, I&#8217;ve been trying to buy back the rights forever so I can legally release them too)<\/em><\/p>\n<h2><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rtsoft.com\/files\/RTReaderSourceCode.zip\">RTReader V??? source code<\/a> (probably incomplete and can not actually be compiled, written in Turbo Pascal 6, requires Scott M. Baker&#8217;s door driver)<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong>\u00a0 Does anybody perchance have the RTReader door game .zip file I distributed back in the day?\u00a0 I think it was a weird kind of &#8220;RTsoft company update and virtual interview with Seth&#8221; thing,<del> please drop a comment if you know where to find it, thought it might be good for a laugh. My google-fu failed<\/del>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Update<\/strong>:\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rtsoft.com\/files\/rtread02_with_dosbox.zip\">Here is the RTReader thing<\/a> I was talking about (Thanks Jay).\u00a0 I&#8217;ve packaged it with DosBox, just click play.bat and it will run.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.codedojo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/rtreader.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2530\" src=\"https:\/\/www.codedojo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/rtreader.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"633\" height=\"418\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.codedojo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/rtreader.png 633w, https:\/\/www.codedojo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/rtreader-300x198.png 300w, https:\/\/www.codedojo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/rtreader-624x412.png 624w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 633px) 100vw, 633px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s just as hilarious and bad as I expected, complete with tons of misspellings and random things such as a virtual interview and a &#8220;game&#8221; that ends with a madlibs style story.\u00a0 \u00a0It calls itself &#8220;Bloody Claw Newsletter Issue 2 from June, 1995&#8221;.\u00a0 So there must be an &#8220;issue 1&#8221; out there somewhere?\u00a0 Did an issue 3 ever make it out the door?
