{"id":1216,"date":"2011-04-10T22:11:43","date_gmt":"2011-04-10T13:11:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.codedojo.com\/?p=1216"},"modified":"2011-04-10T22:11:43","modified_gmt":"2011-04-10T13:11:43","slug":"dink-smallwood-hd-1-4-8-released-for-ios-now-optimized-for-fling","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.codedojo.com\/?p=1216","title":{"rendered":"Dink Smallwood HD 1.4.8 released for iOS &#8211; now optimized for Fling"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>What&#8217;s the Fling?<\/h2>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/tenonedesign.com\/fling.php\">Fling<\/a> is sort of a rubber joystick you attach to your iPad&#8217;s screen with suction cups.\u00a0 It really does feel like an auto-centering joystick.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/tenonedesign.com\/fling.php\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/tenonedesign.com\/php\/slir\/w300-q100\/images\/pd_fling_lap_meteorblitz.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s got this ingenious design where you have to slightly press down on the nub-thingie or you feel it will slip out of your hand &#8211; and the down press makes it work properly with the iPad touch screen.<\/p>\n<h2>Dink HD and the fling<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rtsoft.com\/dink\"><strong>Dink Smallwood<\/strong><\/a> on the iPad is really a game screaming for joystick control.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve done my best with touch controls but, let&#8217;s face it, it&#8217;s just harder to control Dink with all the stick-and-move fighting required.\u00a0 This is why I added the &#8220;save anywhere&#8221; and such, to make the game easier.<\/p>\n<p>Using the a Fling you get VERY close to normal joystick play, it really helps immensely.\u00a0\u00a0 I recommend picking one up if you want to get the full iPad dink experience.<\/p>\n<h2>What&#8217;s new in 1.4.8<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Fling support &#8211; A third control mode called &#8220;Fling&#8221; added to the option screen &#8211; it tweaks things to work better with the Fling controller such as the dpad sensitivity settings and positioning, and being able to select items and dialog options with it<\/li>\n<li>Saved game import &#8211; if you place a save&lt;number&gt;.dat file in the dink dir using iTunes file sharing it will import it.\u00a0 save&lt;number&gt;_&lt;dmod dir name&gt;.dat to import a dmod save<\/li>\n<li>Fixed an issue where if you quit using the dink menu it wouldn&#8217;t auto-save\/restart from that point<\/li>\n<li>Improved input all around by switching to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.protonsdk.com\">proton<\/a>&#8216;s more advanced finger tracking<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/tenonedesign.com\/fling.php\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1217\" title=\"fling_compatible_small\" src=\"https:\/\/www.codedojo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/fling_compatible_small.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"100\" height=\"66\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What&#8217;s the Fling?
